15-year-old girl named Miracle Ogbonna was tragically electrocuted while fetching water at the Olomore Housing Estate area of Abeokuta.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday, was reported by Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command. According to Odutola, the case of electrocution was reported to the Divisional Police Officer of Lafenwa by Onyekachi Silas at Olomore housing estate.

Onyekachi explained to the DPO that his younger brother called him on the phone on March 31, 2024, at 23:50, to inform him that Miracle Ogbonna, who is the younger sister of his brother's wife and lives with them, had gone to the well to fetch water during a power outage. Unfortunately, power was restored by IBDEC while she was fetching water, and Miracle was tragically electrocuted by a naked wire of the pumping machine placed inside the well.

Miracle was rushed to Rose Hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed her death. The investigation into the incident has commenced, and the corpse has been deposited at Oke Lantoro morgue. Further details regarding the negligence that led to the naked wire being placed in the well are yet to be disclosed.
