Frans Cornelius Vermeulen, a 25-year-old man from Prieska, Northern Cape, South Africa, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday, October 13, 2023, for strangling and killing his father's girlfriend in 2018.

The incident occurred when Vermeulen was 17 years old, and his father's girlfriend, Sharifa Brown, 27, allegedly became involved in an altercation with him.

Vermeulen then strangled Brown and shot her four times with a.22 rifle, which led to her death at the scene.
