On Sunday, a multi-vehicle collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway resulted in the deaths of at least five people and the injuries of 12 others.
Florence Okpe, the public education officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the accident in an interview with the press.
According to Okpe, a DAF truck, a Toyota bus, and a Mitsubishi pickup van were involved in the crash, which occurred near the Foursquare Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The FRSC has not yet commented on the cause of the crash.
According to the FRSC spokeswoman, the accident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. and was caused by excessive speeding, tyre blowout, and loss of control on the part of the truck driver.
She noted that the tyre blowout and loss of control caused the truck to fall and block the road, and that the bus and pickup van then collided with the fallen truck. Okpe revealed that 21 people were involved in the crash, 12 of whom were injured and 5 of whom died.
