On Monday, July 24, 2023, in the village of Kangon Garacce in the Dangulbi district of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, a group of soldiers were ambushed by armed bandits.

The soldiers were responding to a distress call when they fell into the trap set by the bandits. According to residents of the village, the attack resulted in the deaths of several soldiers and civilians.

The security situation in Zamfara State has been a major concern for the past few years, and the recent attack has heightened tensions in the area.

One Lawal Dangulbi told the news channel;

“The bandits divided themselves, some were attacking the community while some were stationed outside the community to prevent the military from assisting the villagers, they ambushed the troops and killed seven of them.”

Dangulbi, a resident of Zamfara's Maru LGA, confirmed that bandits ambushed a group of soldiers who were responding to a distress call in the area.

The ambush resulted in the death of several civilians and soldiers. A security source confirmed the attack, although the Nigerian Army has not yet released an official statement on the incident.

Residents have expressed concern over the increasing frequency of bandit attacks in the area.
