Veteran Nollywood actor Segun Arinze has shared his story of how his acting career came to a halt and why he chose to step away from the industry.

In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Arinze reflected on his experiences as an actor, including his breakthrough role in the 1996 film Silent Night, which earned him recognition for his portrayal of Black Arrow.

However, Arinze also revealed the darker side of his career, explaining how being typecast as a villain in movies took a toll on his mental health, ultimately leading him to abandon acting. His candid discussion sheds light on the challenges actors face and the personal struggles that can accompany success in the entertainment industry.

“There was a time I took a hiatus from acting when people were casting in that mold of bad boy, bad boy and it began to affect my psyche and all that,” Arinze said.

He also spoke to Chude for the first about his divorce from the popular actress, Anne Njemanze. “I stayed out of marriage after the first one collapsed. I stayed out for like 12 years before I remarried,” he said.
