Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is facing increasing pressure to apologize to Finidi George and Nigerians following his recent outburst against the former national team coach on social media. The latest call for an apology comes from former goalkeeper Peterside Idah.

On Saturday, Osimhen made several derogatory comments about Finidi, alleging the coach claimed that he selectively chooses which games to play for Nigeria. Finidi has denied these allegations, suggesting Osimhen should have clarified the issue privately before airing grievances publicly.

Idah has urged Osimhen to take responsibility and issue a public apology. "He should apologize for all the things he said to Finidi George," Idah said. "Finidi George is a legend. Osimhen should have called the coach and asked questions. This behavior is irresponsible, and the NFF must call Osimhen to apologize. Our national team is sacred, and those who wear the jersey must respect those who came before them. He should apologize to former players, the NFF, Finidi, and all Nigerians."

Idah also suggested that Osimhen should face consequences if he fails to apologize, potentially being barred from the national team. "If we allow this behavior to continue, it will not benefit Nigeria. The NFF and sports minister must act to maintain respect and order in our football."

Former Everton striker Victor Anichebe also criticized Osimhen's public outburst, while highlighting issues within the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). "Osimhen was wrong to come out publicly. This should have been handled privately. However, the NFF is also to blame, as they are clueless and lack foresight," Anichebe said. "The entire organization needs reform for effective leadership and results."
