The Lagos Police Command has taken two officers into custody in connection with the fatal shooting of a civilian during an unauthorized operation.

According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command's spokesperson, the officers, whose identities and ranks were not disclosed, were part of the State Taskforce. On Wednesday, June 19, they allegedly conducted an illegal operation alongside some civilians, which led to an altercation with motorcycle riders, resulting in the civilian's death.

The incident has sparked an investigation, and the police are taking measures to address the misconduct.

Hundeyin said;

“While disciplinary actions have commenced on the already detained police officers, search is on for their civilian accomplices. Investigations have commenced to identify, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of this dastardly act.”
