Kano State's Commissioner of Higher Education, Yusuf Kofar-Mata, tragically lost three family members in a house fire.

The news was shared on his official Facebook account on Wednesday, July 17.

The victims include his daughter, Maimuna; his elder sister, Khadija; and his brother’s wife, Juwairiyya. The fire engulfed the commissioner’s residence in the Kofar-Mata area of Kano early Wednesday morning while the family was asleep.

A family source revealed that the blaze destroyed numerous valuables. Abdullahi Saminu, the state fire service spokesperson, stated that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined.
