In a courageous move, Tuokpe, the ex-wife of prominent political activist Reno Omokri, has shared her harrowing experiences of domestic abuse during their marriage.

Through a detailed Instagram post, Tuokpe aims to empower women to stand against violence and control.

"No woman should ever tolerate abuse in a marriage, regardless of how infrequent it might be," Tuokpe emphasized. "We often make excuses like wanting to maintain a complete family or staying for the sake of the children. But the truth is, your children deserve better."

Tuokpe recounted several alarming incidents, including a ruptured eardrum and a swollen jaw, which she attributed to Omokri's violent outbursts. 

She also mentioned involving law enforcement after the final assault.

Tuokpe highlighted the contrast between her independent upbringing and Omokri's alleged expectations of a submissive partner. "I wasn't raised to be timid," she declared.

Her powerful statement encourages women to prioritize their well-being and safety. "After the first instance of violence... I made excuses, thinking I must have provoked the anger. But the truth is, no one deserves abuse."
