EFCC Chairman Orders Probe into Bobrisky's N15 Million Bribery Allegation

Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has launched an immediate investigation into serious bribery allegations made by popular social media personality Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky.

In a viral video, Bobrisky, an ex-convict, claimed that officers of the EFCC had demanded and received N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges.

The video, which also featured popular activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as "VeryDarkMan," has stirred considerable public interest and debate.

Bobrisky accused unnamed EFCC officers of soliciting the bribe in exchange for leniency in his case, a claim that has now prompted swift action from the Commission’s leadership.

Responding to the viral allegations, Olukoyede has formed a special investigative team to probe the accusations and uncover the truth behind Bobrisky’s claims.

As part of the process, both Bobrisky and Otse have been invited to the EFCC's Lagos office to assist in the investigation.

In a statement issued by Dele Oyewale, EFCC's Head of Media & Publicity, the Commission reassured the public that the matter would be handled with the utmost integrity and transparency.

The EFCC is committed to upholding its core values of professionalism, courage, and integrity and will ensure the findings are made public once the investigation concludes.

This development has drawn significant attention, as the EFCC continues to reaffirm its stance against corruption, including allegations involving its own officers.

The Commission’s swift response highlights its dedication to accountability and maintaining public trust in its operations.
