In an emotional plea, one of the recently rescued Chibok school girls, Mary Nkeki, has asked to be reunited with her husband, Mallam Adamu, who is a repentant Boko Haram member.

Mary was among the 276 school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram on April 14, 2014, in the Chibok community.

As part of a special handover ceremony held at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj. Gen.

According to the Commander, Mary was rescued by troops of the 81 Nigerian Army Battalion, Dikwa, on August 14, 2023.

Mary, who is 27 years old, was on the list of the 276 abducted Chibok schoolgirls.

She had two babies with her husband, Adamu, while they were living in the forest, but both babies died of severe acute malnutrition (SAM).

Despite being rescued, Mary has asked to be reunited with her husband, who surrendered to the Army last week in Dikwa.

She seems to be clinging to the only familiar thing she has left in the world, her husband.
