Nigeria is in mourning as Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of the nation's iconic flag, has passed away at the age of 87.
His son, Akinkunmi Akinwumi Samuel, confirmed the news on Facebook, expressing his grief and honoring his father's incredible contribution to Nigeria's national identity.
He said, "Life is indeed transient, but my father lived a life with a lasting impact.
For his impressive achievement, Akinkunmi was presented with a cash prize of 100 pounds from the government, a significant sum in the year 1960.” But that wasn't the end of it.
President Goodluck Jonathan later recognized Akinkunmi's contributions with the prestigious MON (Member of the Order of the Niger) Award, an honor bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to the country.
