Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen etched his name into the record books of Nigerian football history by surpassing Obafemi Martins and Ikechukwu Uche in goals scored for the national team.

His hat-trick in an AFCON qualifier match against Sao Tome and Principe in Uyo saw him notch his 19th and 20th goals for Nigeria, putting him just one goal behind top scorer, Ahmed Musa.

The victory put the Super Eagles one step closer to qualifying for the AFCON, and Osimhen's performance was a testament to his immense talent and dedication to the national team.

The match between Nigeria and Sao Tome and Principe came to a resounding close, with the home team victorious by a score of 6-0. The first half was evenly matched, with both teams vying for an advantage.

It wasn't until the 14th minute that Nigeria broke the deadlock, when Victor Osimhen scored the first goal of the game.

This was soon followed by a second goal from Ademola Lookman in the first half, bringing the score to 2-0 at the break.Victor Osimhen has set a new record in the Italian Serie A, becoming the highest-scoring African player in the history of the league.

The Nigerian striker surpassed the record set by former Liberia international George Weah, scoring his 50th goal in Italy's top flight on Sunday, September 10.

The feat comes after a season in which Osimhen helped Napoli win the league title for the first time in 33 years, and he was also named the league's top scorer.

With 20 goals for Nigeria, he is now tied with former Super Eagles striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
