Tragedy struck at Ganaja Bridge in Lokoja, Kogi State, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, when a man, allegedly overwhelmed by hardship and suffering, took his own life by jumping into the river below.

An eyewitness reported that the deceased, who was operating a tricycle in the city, parked his vehicle at the bridge and jumped, shouting that he was tired of living.

While the deceased's identity has not yet been confirmed, the incident has raised concerns about the mental health crisis that many people in Nigeria may be facing, as economic hardships continue to take a toll on the population.
