President Bola Tinubu has announced his intention to appoint Dr. Olayemi Michael Cardoso as the new governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

The appointment of Dr. Cardoso, who will serve a five-year term, comes after Tinubu consulted with the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), state governors, and economic experts.

The president believes Dr. Cardoso's vast experience in finance and the banking sector will be an asset to the Central Bank and the nation as a whole.

Four deputy governors have been appointed to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by President Bola Tinubu, including Mrs. Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

These appointments are intended to carry out critical reforms at the CBN, further advancing the "Renewed Hope" agenda of President Tinubu, who believes that these individuals have the expertise and experience to help the economy grow and prosper.
