In a bid to reduce traffic congestion and prevent accidents, the Lagos State Government has announced a total ban on street trading and hawking on highways and roads in the state.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said that the ban was in response to the dangers posed by street trading and hawking to both motorists and pedestrians.

The government has warned that anyone caught violating the ban will be prosecuted and their goods confiscated.

The ban comes as part of the Lagos State government's broader efforts to improve traffic flow and reduce accidents.

Other initiatives include the implementation of a 'no vehicle parking' rule on highways, the construction of more pedestrian bridges, and the introduction of traffic wardens.

The government hopes that these measures will improve the safety and quality of life for Lagos residents and reduce economic losses caused by traffic congestion.
