FG Increases Fees at Federal Unity Schools From N45,000 to N100,000:

According to a circular released from the Office of the Director of Senior Secondary Education Department of the Federal Ministry of Education, the new fees are applicable to all new students in the 2023/2024 academic session.

The circular highlights the various fees and charges to be paid, including tuition, development levy, hostel accommodation, feeding, uniforms, medical, and extracurricular activities.

The circular in part reads

“The latest fees/charge increment will affect virtually all aspects and activities of the school, including tuition and boarding fees, uniform, text books, deposit, exercise books, prospectus, caution fee, ID card, stationery, clubs and societies, sports, extra lesson, insurance, et al. Please be informed that the ministry has approved only the underlisted fees and charges for all Unity Colleges,” the circular read

Parents and guardians have expressed concerns over the Federal Government's decision to increase fees at Federal Unity Colleges, calling on President Tinubu to intervene.

They argued that the hike in fees is unaffordable for many families, and that it runs counter to the President's promises of welfare support for Nigerians during economic difficulties.
