The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, is facing legal action for allegedly possessing firearms illegally.
The Department of State Services has scheduled a hearing before a federal high court in Lagos, where Emefiele will be arraigned on two counts.
His case will be led by Joseph Daudu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, while Nicholas Oweibo will serve as the presiding judge.
The charges against Emefiele come at a time when the country is grappling with a host of economic challenges, including rising inflation and a weak currency.
According to TheCable, in the first count against Emefiele, he is accused of illegally possessing a single-barrel shotgun, which is a crime under Section 4 of the Firearms Act.
If found guilty, he could face a penalty under Section 27 (1b) of the same Act.
