A suspected POS fraudster, Akan Edet, was rescued from being burned by a mob in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, by operatives of the state Police Command.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, revealed this during a parade of 51 suspects who had been arrested for crimes including kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, cultism, and murder.

Akan Edet was apprehended on March 8 for defrauding people using a Point Of Sale (POS) machine and was saved from being set on fire by the MOPOL Monitoring Unit. It was noted that he had scammed multiple POS operators in the city with fake alerts, and a total of N350,000 in cash was seized from him at the time of his arrest..
