During the presentation, Governor Otti emphasized the crucial role of parents in safeguarding their children, stating that no excuse could justify neglecting this primary responsibility. The children—Gideon (8), Divine (6), and Israel (4)—were kidnapped on May 10, 2024, while returning from school, with the motorcyclist hired by their grandmother absconding with them.

After a thorough manhunt, two of the children were rescued after three weeks in Anambra State, and the last was found in Delta State. Four suspects have been detained in connection with the abduction, according to Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Moureen Chinaka.

Governor Otti expressed gratitude for the children's safe return, urging parents to be more vigilant about their children's security. He emphasized the importance of not entrusting children to strangers and called for a community effort in protecting all children. Additionally, he praised the security operatives for their efforts and stressed the need for continued prosecution of those involved.

The governor pledged ongoing support for the rescued children and reiterated his administration's commitment to security and economic development in the state. He highlighted the robust security measures in place and warned criminals that Abia is not safe for them. Mayor Osinachi Nwaka, who led the rescue operations, commended Governor Otti's dedication to safety and security in Abia. Special Adviser on Security, Commander MacDonald Uba, and Honorable Boniface Isienyi, who plans to propose stricter regulations for motherless babies' homes, also lauded the governor's leadership and efforts.
