The Abia State Police Command has apprehended several individuals linked to the demise of 23-year-old Hope Chinedu Prosper in Umuahia. Reports indicate that a neighbor, Daniel Otuechere, transported Chinedu to an undisclosed location but returned with him deceased.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, the command's spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The arrests followed a complaint filed by the deceased's father.

According to the statement, "On 19/4/2024, the Central Police Station (CPS) Umuahia received a report from Hope Oluoha, a 52-year-old male of Agbo Emede Ibeku Umuahia, that on 18/4/2024, one Daniel Otuechere, male, 27 years old, of same address took his son, Hope Chinedu Prosper, male, 23 years old, to an unknown destination and returned home with his lifeless body."

The body was subsequently taken to the hospital, where his death was confirmed. Detectives from the Command visited the scene, and the body was deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. Chinaka stated, "Suspects connected to the crime have been arrested, and discreet investigation is ongoing."
