Super Falcons star Rasheedat Ajibade scored an outstanding long-range goal to earn the Nigerian women's team a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in the first leg of their 2024 Olympic qualifiers.
The hosts had taken the lead in the 6th minute through Birkie Amare, before Ajibade equalized with a stunning strike in the 52nd minute.
Nigerian striker Ifeoma Onumonu had a late header disallowed for offside as the Super Falcons settled for a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in the first leg of the 2024 Olympic qualifiers.
Ifeoma came on as a substitute and thought she had scored the winner in the 92nd minute, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. The game ended in a stalemate, with both teams heading to Abuja for the second leg on October 31st.
The winner of the two-legged tie will progress to the final round of Olympic qualifiers, where they will face either Cameroon or Uganda.
