In a shocking incident, the WhatsApp number of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been compromised by fraudsters, who have cloned his account to perpetuate a massive scam.

According to Leadership Newspaper, the impostors have been using the governor's cloned WhatsApp number to solicit funds from unsuspecting individuals, claiming to be acting on his behalf. 

One such conversation requested a close ally of the governor to transfer N7 million to a dedicated account, promising to refund the amount later.

"The governor is currently in the United States for a state function, and we suspect foul play," said a government official. "We urge the public to be vigilant and not fall prey to these fraudsters."

Confirming the incident, Chief Press Secretary and Spokesman of the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, warned the public against engaging with the impostors.

"We alert the public to be cautious and not to be hoodwinked into falling prey to the fraudsters," Udoh said. "The governor's WhatsApp number has been compromised, and we are working to resolve the issue."

The incident has raised massive concerns about the security of government officials' communication channels and the need for heightened vigilance in the digital age.
