On Tuesday, a lone accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway claimed the life of one person and left five others injured.

Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online and provided additional details.

She stated that 23 persons were involved in the accident, which occurred at the Fidiwo axis of the expressway.

She said, “23 persons involved, all male, five injured and one person killed.It was a lone crash involving a truck.”

Okpe, while blaming the cause of the accident on tyre bust and speeding, urged motorist to exercise caution when driving on the expressway.

“The cause of the crash was tyre bust and speeding.

“Motorists are advised to always drive with caution on the expressway so as to prevent needless loss of lives,” Okpe said.

Okpe warned motorists to be more careful while driving, and encouraged the use of safety gear such as seatbelts to prevent similar incidents from occurring.

This tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need to be good security in the country.
