The autopsy performed on the body of late singer Mohbad has provided insights into the possible cause of his death.

Autopsy of Late Singer Mohbad Reveals Potential Drug Reaction

The findings from the autopsy, conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and obtained by TheCable Lifestyle on Thursday, included samples of Mohbad’s gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung, which were analyzed for toxicology.

The anatomical and pathological examination revealed an injury on Mohbad’s right forearm, and his body was exhumed showing moderate to severe decomposition. However, the autopsy indicated "no significant gross finding" linked to his death.

The toxicology report identified the presence of Diphenhydramine, an anti-histamine, but stated that the concentration found was not at a fatal level. Anti-histamines are commonly used to treat allergies, as well as other conditions like stomach problems, colds, and anxiety.

The report concluded that the exact cause of death could not be determined. It suggested a possible drug reaction given the absence of significant findings in the post-mortem and toxicology results.

The autopsy also noted that the body had neither undergone an autopsy nor been embalmed before being buried on the second day after death. The body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, eight days post-burial, revealing moderate to marked organ decomposition. Other than the injury on the right forearm, no significant findings were observed.

To investigate the possibility of anaphylactic reaction, substance abuse, overdose, or poisoning, samples were taken for toxicology. While Diphenhydramine was present, it was not in a lethal range, and other analyses were unremarkable.

The report emphasized the difficulty in determining fatal anaphylactic shock without a prompt blood sample, which was hindered by the early burial. Thus, while the cause of death remains undetermined, a fatal anaphylactic shock (drug reaction) cannot be ruled out.
