A remarkable achievement in canine longevity has been lost with the passing of Bobi, a Rafeiro do Alentejo who was the oldest dog in recorded history at 31 years and 165 days.
He lived with his family in the Portuguese village of Conqueiros and became a Guinness World Record holder earlier this year.
Dr. Karen Becker, Bobi's veterinarian, announced his passing on Facebook, describing him as a "sweet boy" who "earned his wings." Bobi's remarkable age surpassed the previous record holder, Bluey, an Australian Cattle Dog, who lived to 29 years and five months.
