In a communique signed by Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin and Bishop John Oyejola, the bishops emphasized the importance of exercising constitutional rights in a democratic society, while also cautioning protesters to avoid intimidation and disturbance of those who choose not to participate.

The bishops criticized the government's response to the country's challenges, citing hunger, insecurity, failed promises, and ineffective governance as reasons for the growing discontent. They urged the government to attend to the distress calls of Nigerians and adopt a more proactive approach to addressing the country's problems.

Additionally, the bishops called on security agencies to handle the protests professionally and avoid violence, emphasizing the need for restraint and civility to prevent accidental deaths and bloodshed.
