The incident, which has since gone viral, took place during a church service, prompting outrage and concern from the boy's family and the broader community.

The priest, who remains unnamed, addressed the situation by admitting that he "mistakenly knocked the boy's head" but insisted it was intended as a "minor correction" that has been "blown out of proportion."

In his apology, the priest expressed regret for the situation and clarified that he did not mean to cause harm.

"It was not my intention to hurt the boy. It was a simple correction during the service, and I acknowledge it was done in a way that was inappropriate," he stated.

He added that he has since met with the boy’s family to personally apologize for the incident and explain the context.

The altar boy’s family, although upset initially, has reportedly accepted the priest's apology, according to sources.

However, the viral nature of the video has sparked debate within the Catholic community, with many questioning the appropriateness of physical reprimands in church settings, especially during sacred ceremonies like weddings.

The incident has highlighted concerns about authority figures using physical means to enforce discipline, with many urging the church to adopt more modern and compassionate approaches in handling similar situations in the future.

While the priest has taken responsibility and apologized, the incident continues to generate conversation about proper conduct in places of worship.
