Chelsea football club has extend birthday wishes to one of the clubs renowned midfielder Mikel John Obi as he celebrates his 37th birthday today.

Obi, who enjoyed an illustrious 11-year career at Stamford Bridge, has been hailed by the West Londoners as "a true Chelsea legend."

In a post on their official platform, Chelsea extended their wishes to Obi, acknowledging his over a decade-long tenure with the side, from 2006 to 2017.

"Happy birthday, John Obi Mikel! 'A true legend' - Chelsea celebrates Mikel Obi at 37," the post read.

"A true Chelsea legend, who graced our midfield for 11 years," it added.

Despite not being prolific in scoring goals throughout his career, the Nigerian defensive midfielder has an impressive list of achievements.

He clinched two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Football League Cups, and one Community Shield. Obi was also part of the legendary Chelsea squad that secured the historic 2012 UEFA Champions League title, the club's first-ever triumph in the competition.

Continuing to the Europa League the following season, he also claimed the title, culminating in one of the most successful careers among Nigerian footballers.
