Former Vibe editor-in-chief Danyel Smith has made a disturbing allegation against Sean "Diddy" Combs, accusing him of threatening her life in 1997.

In a personal essay for The New York Times Magazine, Smith revealed that Combs was unhappy with the cover choices for Vibe's December/January issue, which featured him in angel wings. When she denied his request to see the covers, he allegedly threatened to force his way into the office and harm her. Smith claimed that Combs showed up with security guards, prompting her colleagues to help her escape.

He later made a threatening phone call, saying she'd end up "dead in the trunk of a car." Smith's account comes amid Combs' ongoing legal issues, including a sex trafficking probe and sexual assault lawsuits.
