Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa Urges Youths to Suspend Protests, Embrace Dialogue with Government

As the nationwide protests enter their second day, human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has appealed to youths to suspend the demonstrations and engage in dialogue with the government.

In a statement on Friday, Adegboruwa expressed concern that the protests had been hijacked by "sponsored agents" who had infiltrated the ranks of the protesters, derailing their peaceful mission.

"The purpose of the protest has been defeated," Adegboruwa said. "I appeal to the protesters to withdraw themselves from their various protest grounds and to suspend the protests immediately and indefinitely, to give room for meaningful dialogue and engagement with the government."

Adegboruwa emphasized the need to avoid further losses and casualties, given the hijacking of the protests by sponsored agents. He urged the organizers of the protests and their representatives to embrace dialogue with the government.

"We must not allow the protests to be hijacked by those with ulterior motives," Adegboruwa warned. "Let us work towards finding solutions to our problems through peaceful and constructive engagement."

Adegboruwa's appeal comes as the protests continue to spread across the country, with many calling for an end to bad governance and economic hardship.
