The Edo State Police Command says it has arrested 16 suspects in connection with the murder of one person and the burning of vehicles in Auchi, Edo State.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, says the suspects were arrested in a joint operation by the Auchi Area Command and operatives of the Divisional Police Headquarters at Auchi, with the assistance of a vigilante group.

Nwabuzor explained that police operatives responded to a distress call at about 5:10pm on Friday, September 23, 2022, that hoodlums had attacked some vehicles at Uyi Technical College Junction in Auchi, killing one person and setting many vehicles ablaze.

He said the joint security team, which responded swiftly to the incident, found one Amadin Ohiarala dead, with multiple machete cuts, while an unregistered Toyota Highlander SUV and a Toyota Corolla were found burnt.
