Refaat's death comes months after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during a match, which left him hospitalized for several weeks.

Refaat's health crisis occurred on March 11 during a league match against Ittihad of Alexandria, when he collapsed on the field and experienced cardiac arrest. He received immediate medical attention and was later hospitalized in Alexandria before being transferred to Cairo for further treatment on March 25. Although he was discharged on April 11, Refaat continued to receive treatment and used a pacemaker to manage his condition.

Tragically, Refaat's heart complications ultimately proved fatal, and he passed away on June 23. The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed, but it is believed to be related to the heart issues he suffered earlier this year.

Refaat's football career was marked by notable achievements, including his debut with Egypt's senior national team in 2021 and five appearances with the Pharaohs. He also played for several clubs, including Zamalek, Enppi, and Masry, before joining Future FC in October 2021. In his last season, Refaat scored nine goals in 29 appearances.

Modern Future FC, Refaat's club, also released a statement confirming the player's death and paying tribute to his memory.
