Eleven ECOWAS Heads of State arrive Abuja for meeting:

Out of 16 ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, 11 have arrived in Abuja for an extraordinary meeting regarding the military coup in Niger.

The leaders will discuss the implications of the coup and consider what actions should be taken in response.

The coup, which led to the overthrow of the democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum, has raised concerns about democracy and stability in the region.

This meeting is an opportunity for ECOWAS leaders to demonstrate their commitment to upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.

Leaders from several ECOWAS countries, including President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone, and President Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco of Guinea Bissau, are attending a meeting at the Old Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting is addressing the military coup in Niger, which saw the overthrow of the democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.
