Born in 1958, he had reached the age of 66. Senator Eze, who represented the Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, passed away after a prolonged illness, ultimately succumbing to his condition at an Abuja hospital.

His death has created a deep void in the hearts of many who admired his commitment and contributions to politics. Despite his illness, he remained active in political affairs, even though he was unable to attend his child’s wedding earlier this year in Lagos State.

Senator Eze was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before he switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC), where he contested in the Enugu State governorship election. He served as chairman of the senate committee on Information and Media, which made him the official spokesperson of the senate in 2007. Later, after being reelected to the senate in 2011, he became chairman of the committee on works.

Aside from his role as a former Senate spokesman, Senator Ayogu Eze made significant contributions as a member of various committees, including those focused on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs. His involvement in these committees demonstrated his dedication to addressing critical issues and working towards the nation's improvement.

In May of last year, the Senate confirmed Eze's appointment, along with five others, as Federal Commissioners for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC. His passing is indeed a loss to the political landscape of Nigeria.
