This adjustment follows negotiations with organised labour groups, including the Trade Union Congress and the Nigeria Labour Congress, who had previously suggested a minimum wage of N497,000 but lowered their proposal by N3,000.

Despite the government's new offer, labour leaders expressed dissatisfaction. A union member highlighted that the labour groups were willing to reduce their demands further if the government increased its proposal. He emphasized the importance of the government presenting a reasonable offer to reach a mutually agreeable figure. The labour groups plan to maintain a united front by holding internal meetings before committee discussions to ensure consistency in their stance.
