The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hosted the D’tigress women's basketball team to a reception at the State House in Abuja, in recognition of their achievements.

Senator Tinubu commended the team for their hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence, which have inspired many people, especially women, to pursue their dreams.

The D’tigress team has made Nigeria proud with their recent accomplishments and are a shining example of what is possible with dedication and teamwork.

The wife of the President in a statement said,

“Your victory transcends sports, symbolizing the potential that can be realized when a diverse group of individuals come together with a common goal.

“I am immensely proud of your achievements and the positive image you have projected for our country. Your success reinforces the fact that Nigerian women are capable of reaching the highest level in any endeavour they choose to undertake”.

At the reception, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, thanked the First Lady for hosting the D'Tigress team and expressed confidence that the team would continue to excel in future competitions, including the 2024 Olympic Games.

The D'Tigress team presented the FIBA Women's Afrobasket trophy to the First Lady, as well as a medal and a jersey to commemorate their victories.
