"We will not accept anybody flying any foreign flag in Nigeria. That is a treasonable offense and it will be viewed and treated as such," General Mustapha said after an emergency security meeting with President at Aso Rock on August 5.

He emphasized that Nigeria is a sovereign and democratic nation, and all security agencies are committed to defending democracy and ensuring its continuity.

"We will not accept anyone pushing or taking any action, seemingly or for whatever reason, to want to push for any change of government," General Mustapha added.

The Chief of Defence Staff's warning comes after reports of protesters in northern Nigeria carrying Russian flags and chanting slogans in support of President Vladimir Putin.

General Mustapha's statement sends a clear message that Nigeria will not tolerate any form of foreign interference or attempts to undermine its sovereignty.

"We are warning in clear terms, and the President has also said we should convey this, that we will not accept anybody, any individual flying any foreign flag in Nigeria," he reiterated.

The Nigerian government's stance is firm, and individuals engaging in such activities will face the full weight of the law.
