A report from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has indicated that a total of 204 people have died in road crashes in Bauchi State in the first nine months of 2022.

The state sector commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, made this disclosure in a road safety bulletin released in Bauchi on Monday. Abdullahi said that the figure included 424 people who sustained injuries in the accidents.

According to the report, the accidents involved 544 vehicles, the highest of which were commercial vehicles at 36.1 percent, followed by private cars at 29.7 percent, and tricycles, also known as Keke Napep, at 24.5 percent. The commander further explained that the majority of the crashes occurred on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

He stated that the causes of the crashes were overspeeding, wrongful overtaking, dangerous driving, and excessive use of speed by drivers.
