Ganduje Labels Legal Challenge to His APC Chairmanship as 'Baseless' After Court Dismissal

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has firmly rejected claims surrounding a lawsuit that sought to unseat him from his position.

Ganduje Labels Legal Challenge to His APC Chairmanship as 'Baseless' After Court Dismissal

This response follows the Federal High Court in Abuja’s recent ruling, which dismissed the case on grounds of lack of merit.

Justice Inyang Ekwo delivered the verdict, ruling that the allegations against Ganduje were unfounded.

The lawsuit, filed by the North Central APC Forum under the leadership of Saleh Zazzaga, challenged Ganduje's appointment on the basis that he does not hail from the North Central geopolitical zone, which the plaintiffs argued should have the right to appoint the national chairman.

The suit was officially designated as FHC/ABJ/CS/599/2024 and also named the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants.

Speaking to reporters at the APC secretariat in Abuja after receiving congratulations from the North Central APC Elders Forum, Ganduje described the legal challenge as "meritless" and expressed gratitude for the support from party elders, even amidst the ongoing controversies.

"We thank you for congratulating us on the judgment regarding the litigation against my office.

“The allegation was baseless and has been rightly addressed by the court," he stated.

Justice Ekwo’s ruling noted that the plaintiffs did not have the legal standing to pursue the case, further highlighting that the organization they represented, the "Northern Central APC Forum," was not a registered entity.

Ganduje emphasized that while those feeling insecure may resort to legal actions, he remains committed to defending his position and ensuring the continued success of the APC.

This dismissal marks a significant victory for Ganduje as he continues to navigate the complexities of party politics in Nigeria.
