A fire incident at Ibis Royale Hotel in Ajao Estate, Lagos, destroyed a number of goods and property.

The fire started in an open bar on the hotel premises around 4pm and was thought to be caused by a power surge.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service responded and put out the blaze, preventing it from spreading further. There were no injuries or fatalities reported.

The lounge section of the hotel was the most affected, but a section of the two-storey building was also damaged.
