GTBank Website Hijacked: Hackers Launch Massive Phishing Operation, Steal Customer Data

The incident, which began on Wednesday night, August 14, 2024, has raised concerns about the security of customers' sensitive information.

According to online platforms that analyze domain information, the GTBank domain name was renewed for another five years just a day before the attack, from August 13, 2024, to March 21, 2029.

"It's a classic case of phishing, where hackers compromise a website to steal valuable customer data," said a cybersecurity expert. "GTBank customers should be vigilant and monitor their accounts for any suspicious activity."

No hacking group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which is still ongoing. GTBank officials have yet to comment on the incident, leaving customers worried about the safety of their financial information.

"We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible," a GTBank spokesperson said. "In the meantime, we advise our customers to be cautious when accessing our website and to report any suspicious activity to our customer service team."

The incident serves as a reminder of the growing threat of cybercrime in the financial sector. Customers are advised to take extra precautions to protect their online accounts and personal data.
