Gunmen Launch Deadly Attacks in Enugu State, Killing Four Personnel

A wave of terror swept through Orba and Eha-Alumona in Udenu and Nsukka Local Government Areas of Enugu State as gunmen attacked two personnel each from the Nigeria Police Force and Federal Road Safety Corps on Saturday.

This incident occurred just 24 hours after two policemen on stop-and-search duty were attacked and killed by gunmen in the state metropolis, not far from the Government House.

According to our sources, the recent attack began at Premier Junction in Eha-Alumona, Nsukka LG, and proceeded to the Army checkpoint at Orba, Udenu LG, around 4 pm.

In the ensuing violence, four personnel lost their lives while others sustained various injuries.

In addition, the criminals attacked and set fire to a Hilux van belonging to the traditional ruler of Egali Amalla Community in Udenu LG, Patrick Eze, popularly known as Igwe Waziri. The monarch, although caught up in the attack, miraculously escaped unharmed.

During the rampage, the gunmen also burned an FRSC van.

When our correspondent contacted the state Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, for his response to the incident, he stated, “I am not aware of the incident. Please contact the Police Public Relations Officer for more information.”

Efforts to reach the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or text messages at the time of reporting.

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State had pledged to use all available resources to apprehend the assailants responsible for killing two policemen on Friday.
