The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed the authenticity of the 2023 presidential election results, refuting allegations of inconsistencies between the results on its website and those presented by returning officers at the National Collation Centre.

"We stand by the results we announced," said INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. "The claims of discrepancies are unfounded and lack merit."

The Centre for Collaborative Investigative Journalism had raised concerns, citing differences in the number of polling units where voting was cancelled due to irregularities. However, INEC maintains that its results are accurate and reliable.

"The figures reported on our website and during the live broadcast are consistent," Yakubu emphasized. "We followed the electoral process meticulously, and our results reflect the true outcome of the election."

INEC's stance is supported by the electoral process's transparency and the live broadcast of the results.
