On Wednesday, May 29, Itsekiri elders descended upon Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State to demand the body of their son, Alex Timileyin, who was allegedly beaten to death by his schoolmates.

Led by the deceased's uncle, Prince Yemi Emiko, the elders visited the hostel where the incident allegedly took place and met with the school management. They also inspected the morgue where Timileyin's body was kept.

During the visit, Laju Dennis Mukoro, a member of the delegation, reported that the morgue was not functional and that Timileyin's body was the only one there. He noted that the body had swollen and bore various marks of violence.

The state police command has yet to comment on the incident.

Previously, Timileyin was reported to have been beaten to death on Saturday, May 25, 2024, in his hostel, Shepherd Inn. A viral video showed him being beaten with sticks by other students. The school authorities have expelled the implicated students and handed them over to the police.
