South African businessman Johann Rupert has reclaimed his position as Africa's richest man, surpassing Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote.

According to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index, Rupert's net worth has increased to $13.6 billion, edging out Dangote's $13.6 billion.

Rupert's rise to the top can be attributed to his impressive performance, with a year-to-date change of +$1.21 billion. In contrast, Dangote's net worth has declined by -$1.53 billion, despite the recent opening of his oil refinery.

"It's a challenging time for Dangote, with the refinery facing difficulties and the ongoing protests in Nigeria affecting business operations," said a financial analyst.

Rupert's success can be attributed to his diversified business interests and strategic investments. As the chairman of Richemont, a Swiss luxury goods company, Rupert has navigated the complex global market with ease.
