Popular radio journalist, Chinonso Uba, was reportedly abducted by gunmen in Owerri on July 27, 2023.

The incident occurred shortly after Uba hosted his morning show at Ozisa FM.

Eyewitnesses described the attackers as heavily armed men wearing masks and driving several vehicles, including a Lexus 350 SUV and an ES 330 car.

Uba was forced into one of the vehicles and driven away. Ozisa FM manager, Rev. Fr. Raymond Nzereogu, stated that he was unsure if Uba had been arrested or kidnapped.

”We don’t know if he was arrested or Kidnapped. We have reached out to the State Security Service people and they said that they were not responsible. We are heading to the police to confirm. We will keep you posted on any further development.” he said

The state police command is yet to confirm the incident.
