In an effort to safeguard national security, the Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting trans-border crimes.
The NCS released a press statement through its Public Relations Officer, Tahir Balarabe, to announce the tour of the Area Controller, Muhammed Umar, to key border communities in Katsina State, where he met with various stakeholders including local government chairmen, business associations, and traditional leaders. Umar emphasized the importance of the role of these border communities in supporting the NCS and other security agencies in facilitating trade and protecting national security.
The Customs Command, through Umar, also reaffirmed its commitment to curbing trans-border crimes, including arms smuggling and drug trafficking, which are orchestrated by economic saboteurs.
He assured that the officers of the command are adequately motivated and trained to carry out their duties without compromising their integrity.
He stressed the need for unity among traders and residents in order to collaborate effectively with customs personnel for efficient border management.
He also sought the support of sister agencies in the fight against trans-border crimes.
