In a comprehensive address to residents on July 31, the governor reflected on the devastating consequences of the previous protests, which started peacefully but were hijacked by miscreants, resulting in unprecedented destruction and loss of property.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state cannot afford to experience such devastation again, citing the ongoing economic and social recovery efforts.

He highlighted the extent of the damage, including the destruction of valuable properties and institutions such as the Lagos High Court, police stations, Local Government offices, Fire Stations, and the Forensic Centre, among others.

While acknowledging the current challenges facing Nigeria, including hunger and hardship, Sanwo-Olu assured that the government is working tirelessly to address them and alleviate the suffering of citizens.

However, he cautioned against resorting to protests as a means of effecting change, instead advocating for constitutional and constructive engagement to drive progress.

The governor urged residents to explore alternative channels for expressing grievances and seeking redress, emphasizing that destruction and chaos only undermine the very progress being sought.
