The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has cleared a canal at Surulere, Lagos, of waste that had been blocking the water channel.

The agency posted before and after photos of the canal on their social media handle, along with a message urging residents to refrain from indiscriminate dumping.

According to LAWMA, canals are not intended for waste disposal and that they are only meant to carry stormwater.

This is a part of their efforts to prevent flooding in the state and to ensure the smooth flow of water.
